The Trust is planning to take 3 of our historic cars to the June Super Scramble at Bicester Heritage.  We regularly take a selection of our cars to Bicester Heritage, as everyone knows, classic cars work better if they are used and the Trust’s Collection is no different. Bicester Heritage is only about 20-30 minutes away from Gaydon  and so the Sunday Scramble is an ideal opportunity for us to give a few of our cars a bit of a shakedown and fly the flag to a much wider classic car audience who may not have been to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.

As the Super Scramble includes the opportunity to take our cars out for some demonstration laps, rather than just static display, we have decided to take 3 very different cars, spanning over 40 years, which aren’t often seen out in public.

One of these isn’t road legal – so we will have to trailer it down – 1974 Group 44 E-type.

The other two will be driving down under their own steam – 1992 XJ220 and our 2015 Project 7.

This new event will be an action packed celebration of the well established triannual open day which has seen tens of thousands of visitors and historic vehicles roll through the gates of the former WW2 RAF Bomber Station.

The Super Scramble will take a similar format to the nationally known Scramble events, however the beautiful former RAF Technical Site will be reserved for invited vehicles only – creating a curated display amongst the time-warp Grade II listed wartime buildings.  The specialist businesses who reside within the buildings of the best-preserved pre-war airfield of its type will be open creating a unique collection of classic vehicles for all to enjoy with plenty of space to explore, circulate and soak up the atmosphere.

Keen visitors to the Super Scramble are encouraged to arrive in their vintage, classic or modern classic vehicles and forward parking for pre-90 vehicles will be offered on the airfield around the entrance to the Technical Site, the epicentre of the event.  The magnificent, ever-changing array of vehicles brought by ‘Scramblers’ to the events never ceases to disappoint, the meets now branded as ‘essential gatherings’ (Classic & Sports Car Magazine) at a location known as ‘the de facto home of the UK classic motor industry’ (City AM).

The Super Scramble will offer greater dynamic activity previously unseen at one of our open day events – with automotive action expected on the Bicester Heritage test circuit, an assortment of interesting aircraft expected, a new food court and more stall holders there will be more to see than ever before.

An exciting new element will be the inclusion of a market place within our Exhibition Hangar 113 – offering retail space, a Classic Trader Village and the very first Autojumble at Bicester Heritage.  Please see FAQs for booking details.
